South African cricket lovers had plenty of reason to feel proud, with the stellar performance of our cricketers in the 2016/17 Sri Lanka in South Africa Tour.

At XtraSpace, we were thrilled to be in on the action as a sponsor of the tour series, which concluded with a fifth One Day International on 10 February 2017.

Thanks to the Sri Lanka tour, cricket lovers wrapped up 2016 and saw in the first two months of 2017 with some excellent cricket. The tour concluded on 10 February with the final One Day International at Centurion.

Congratulations to our team under Faf du Plessis for winning all three Tests in the series, and to our team under AB de Villiers for winning all five of the One Day Internationals (ODIs) in the tour.

A special well done to Hashim Amla, who made his 50th international hundred during the fifth ODI, with 154 runs for 134 balls. With that feat, Amla broke the record, achieving 50 centuries in the least ever number of innings (a total of 348).

Also well done to Sri Lanka. Under captains Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lankan teams won the South Africa Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) series 2–1. That marks Sri Lanka’s first ever series victory in South Africa.

Kudos to Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella, who scored his first half-century in the third T20I, with 68 (51).

How we marked World Cancer Day

The third ODI of the tour fell on 4 February, which is World Cancer Day. The theme for the day this year was “We can. I can.” – everyone can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.

To mark the event and help raise awareness, we decided it was time to go pink!
