XtraSpace has been providing self-storage in South Africa since 2008, when we opened our very first branch in Centurion.
Our self-storage units come in different sizes and are used by our customers to store a very wide range of personal and business items. However, our model doesn’t suit everyone.
Why SpaceBox was started
In 2015, our parent company, the InteSpace Group, recognised a gap in the market.
For people who have just a few items or boxes to store, it may not be necessary to rent a full storage unit. And for those who don’t have cars, it can be difficult to get to a self-storage facility.
This inspired the launch of SpaceBox, one of the first companies in the country to offer valet storage.
What SpaceBox offers
SpaceBox offers valet storage in all major centres across South Africa. The company will fetch your stuff, store it in a secure facility and return it to you when you need it back again.
SpaceBox offers customers its sturdy, plastic boxes, which are easy to seal, label and carry. It will drop off the boxes at an address you choose and fetch them once you’ve packed them.
Alternatively, you can use your own boxes.
The company charges per box or bulky, individual item you store.
Who uses SpaceBox?
SpaceBox’s valet storage service is a great option for those who:
- need limited storage space
- like being able to organise storage and manage item retrieval online
- appreciate the convenience of not having to drive to a storage facility.
For example, SpaceBox is very popular for student storage.
It’s used by businesses that need to store boxed inventory items and archived documents.
It’s also widely used to store:
- bulky sports gear
- individual items of furniture
- individual appliances like fridges
- books, photos and DVDs
- seasonal clothes, bags, shoes and boots
- tax records and other documents
- holiday decorations.
